A Sound-Focused Experience

First Thursdays: Exploring the Senses Series

Forest Bathing, Gentle Yoga, & Sound Bath
Thursday, September 5 10-12:30

     Join us out in nature for a monthly series, ‘Exploring the Senses’. Each session will begin with a sensory connection to nature, easing you into relaxation. We will then flow into a short, gentle yoga sequence with sound bath accompaniment, and end with an extended savasana listening to the healing sounds and vibrations of the sound bath. Peace Hollow Farm is not far away if you want to stop for ice cream or other goodies from their market after our experience.

Harvest Full Moon Hike & Sound Bath

 You will be guided towards self-reflection under the energy of the setting sun and moonlit sky during this 2-mile out and back hike up to Weverton Cliffs Overlook. We will enjoy tea & snacks at the top as we take in the views of the Potomac River. Then we will settle in to listen to the healing vibrations of Tibetan Bowls. Finally, we will hike down to complete our adventure.

Progressive Hiking Dinner:

A Culinary Adventure in Nature

     Nourish your mind and body on a journey around and above historic Harpers Ferry, enjoying a progressive meal along the way. We will walk a total of 6 ½ miles, first through town and up to Maryland Heights overlook for appetizers and a breathtaking view of the town and rivers. Then we will walk back into town for dinner, and finish our journey along the Appalachian Trail where we will enjoy dessert at Jefferson Rock overlook. Throughout this journey, your senses will keep you engaged in the moment as you experience the tastes, scents, and sights amidst rocks, trees, and water.

Cycling through the Senses:
A Journey of Breath and Balance along the C & O Canal

  Friday, October 4: 1-6pm Mindful Cycling along the C & O Canal Register HereJoin us for an afternoon of cycling and a short hike that will exercise your mind and body. Explore methods of grounding, breathwork, and connecting within, even amidst distractions. Often when the mind needs peace the most, our surroundings are busy and our brains are overactive. From Brunswick we will cycle 5 ½ miles to the historic town of Harpers Ferry, connecting with nature through our senses. We will connect with the land on the shady banks of the Shenandoah River before climbing ½ mile up to Jefferson Rock overlook to enjoy the view and a guided meditation. Enjoy refreshing ice cream or shaved ice in town on the way back to our bikes. Our total adventure will be ~11 miles of cycling, and ~1 mile of walking.

*Bike rentals are available through Brunswick Family Campground (arrange ahead of time, and arrive 30 minutes early to get your rental.)

  Connect with nature in this sensory experience amongst a peaceful setting. We will start with a guided forest bathing walk, winding through a trail. Then enjoy a forest tea ceremony and delicious homemade Fall soup. Finally, relax to the soothing, vibrational healing energy of singing bowls around the campfire.

Serenity in Motion:

A Hike, Yoga, and Sound Bath Fusion

Turner’s Gap to Washington Monument State Park along the Appalachian Trail    

  Harmonize your mind, body, and spirit in the crisp air and warm tones of Autumn. Awaken your senses by connecting with nature on this 4 mile out and back hike along the Appalachian Trail. Scenic views await at the original 40 foot tall Washington Monument built in 1827. Enjoy a short, gentle yoga practice in a pine grove accompanied by the healing sounds of singing bowls and chimes. 

South Mountain Creamery is nearby if you would enjoy having ice cream after the hike.

Seeds of the Season: A Fall Sensory Journey

Forest Bathing, Gentle Yoga, & Sound Bath@ The Virginia State Arboretum

       Reconnect with nature and discover the treasures of the Autumn season at the Virginia State Arboretum. Encounter natural wonders such as pine cones, acorns, osage oranges, sweet gum balls, helicopters, buckeyes, and black walnuts.  Let your body guide you through a series of sensory invitations which promote relaxation and connection. Enjoy tea and snacks amidst the fall colors. Experience a gentle yoga practice surrounded by trees, and feel the rhythm of your breath synchronize with the melodies of nature and Singing Bowls.

Fire & Water Forest Bathing & Sound Bath with campfire on the banks of the Potomac River

     Ease into a relaxed state through a series of forest bathing invitations along the banks of the Potomac River. Enjoy some of the many benefits of forest bathing, such as increased mental clarity and mood, a boost in immune system function, and regulation of heart rate and blood pressure. Then gather around the campfire for forest tea and experience the soothing vibrations and sounds of singing bowls. We will walk a total of 1 ½ flat miles along the C & O Canal Towpath.

Winter's Serenity: A Sensory Nature Retreat
at The Land Celebration

  This beautiful property runs along the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Walking trails wind through forest and connect to gardens of moss covered ground among various grotto settings. Three labyrinths create a meditative experience for a sense of tranquility and peace. Throughout this retreat, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, some guided, aiming to help you feel balance within nature. In addition to the scheduled activities you will have plenty of free time to explore the trails, take a nap, or read a book, whatever your mind and heart need.
